NCWM Interim Meeting: A Week of Progress and Milestones in Charleston, SC

This week, I had the pleasure of attending the 2025 National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM) Interim Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina. It has been an incredible experience filled with valuable conversations, exciting developments, and productive committee work.

Building Connections and Growing Impact

The conference has been an excellent opportunity to connect with peers across the industry, share insights, and discuss the latest advancements in EVSE standards and legislation. I met many dedicated professionals, and our discussions led to several new orders and active conversations about TESCO’s EVSE Test Equipment. Seeing firsthand how our technology is helping stakeholders prepare for compliance and meet regulatory standards reinforces the importance of our mission to continuously improve our performance and to provide top-quality, innovative products and services today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Exploring Charleston

Beyond the conference, I’ve enjoyed exploring the charm and history of Charleston. The city’s rich culture and beautiful waterfront have made my time here even more memorable.

Balancing Professional and Personal Roles

One unique aspect of this trip has been having my teenage daughter join me. TESCO Metering’s commitment to being a family-friendly organization made it possible, and it’s been wonderful to share this experience with her. That said, balancing my professional responsibilities with being a parent has been a unique challenge! While I wouldn’t necessarily repeat this arrangement for future conferences, I’ll always treasure the memories we made together.

Expanding My Role: New Committees and Initiatives

This week, I joined two new committees:

  1. Electric Vehicle Fueling and Submetering: U.S. National Work Group
  2. Women in Weights & Measures

EVSE Technical Training Conference

These new roles are exciting opportunities to contribute to critical conversations shaping the future of our industry. It’s inspiring to collaborate with peers who are equally passionate about driving progress.

Additionally, I attended an early-week session with my existing committee on EVSE Technical Conference & Trade Show Planning Committee, where we made significant strides in planning our inaugural EVSE Technical Conference and Trade Show – August 2025:

EVSE Technical Training Conference Details:

  • Location: Tentatively Denver, Colorado
  • Dates: Early August 2025 (exact dates TBD)
  • Duration: 3.5 days

Conference Focus:

  • Hands-on Equipment Training: Attendees will work directly with EVSE Test Equipment to build familiarity and confidence.
  • Classroom Instruction: Comprehensive sessions covering key regulatory, technical basics, and EVSE knowledge to help attendees succeed.
  • Proctored Exam: An optional half-day at the end of the conference will allow participants to take the NTEP EVSE Certification exam while the material is fresh in their minds.

This training aims to equip Registered Service Agents and Weights & Measures Technicians with the tools and knowledge needed to excel in their roles and meet the demands of the new NTEP EVSE Certification Exam launching this Spring.

Seeking Community Input

One of our current considerations is determining the appropriate venue size. Early feedback suggests significant interest from various states, with several registrants already lined up. To ensure we select the best venue and provide a seamless experience for all attendees, we would love to hear from you!

  • Estimated Participation: How many technicians from your organization or state would be interested in attending?
  • Content Suggestions: Is there anything specific you would like to see included in the curriculum or format?

Your feedback will help us shape a robust and impactful conference that meets the needs of our community. For additional Information, contact: Mahesh Albuquerque, Director, State of Colorado.

Reflecting on a Fulfilling Week

As the week comes to a close, I feel immense gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this dynamic community. TESCO Metering’s commitment to innovation and collaboration has only deepened my appreciation for this role. I look forward to the work ahead and continuing to grow alongside my peers in this important industry.

Thank you to everyone who made this week so rewarding—and special thanks to the NCWM & NTEP team for organizing another outstanding event! Looking forward to the next one.
