A Week of Growth and Collaboration: Reflections on Our Annual Sales Conference

The start of the new year brought an exciting opportunity to reconnect and strategize with the entire sales team at TESCO Metering during our Annual Sales Conference. This week was packed with valuable discussions about our EVSE Test solutions and why our work matters for the industry, our clients, and the EV charging ecosystem as a whole. One of the standout moments was Monday’s High-Performance Leadership and Team Building Seminar led by Guttman. The session was a masterclass in fostering collaboration and continuous growth, with several key takeaways that resonated deeply with me:

Key Lessons from Guttman’s High-Performance Leadership Seminar:

  • Cross-Functional Conversations: We emphasized the need for ongoing, cross-departmental discussions to address challenges head-on. By fostering open communication and escalating issues when needed, we build a stronger, more cohesive organization.
  • Influencing Without Authority: Leadership isn’t always about titles—it’s about influence. We discussed the importance of empowering team members with the skills to navigate conflicts and drive outcomes, even without formal authority.
  • Common Language: Having a shared framework for decision-making and communication is crucial to ensuring alignment across the company. This common language streamlines collaboration and helps us move faster as a team.
  • Accountability and Feedback: High-performance teams thrive on accountability. Setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback keeps everyone aligned and motivated.

Approaching Conflict with Clarity

One of the most thought-provoking discussions was around conflict resolution. We explored four options for unresolved conflicts:

  1. Renegotiate the terms or expectations.
  2. Shift your perspective and accept the situation as it is.
  3. Leave if the conflict is insurmountable.
  4. Avoid “going underground,” where hidden frustrations lead to passive-aggressive behavior that undermines trust and collaboration.

Collaborative Improvements and Personal Commitments

Throughout the week, we also addressed key areas like decision-making frameworks, organizational development, and operational improvements. Here are a few initiatives I found particularly impactful:

  • Commitment to improving communication, prioritization, and delegation across the board to foster more effective teamwork.
  • Steps to institutionalize the high-performance team (HPT) mindset as part of our company culture through ongoing training and reinforcement.

Carrying the Energy of the Conference into 2025

Our time together strengthened my confidence in the road ahead. The team’s dedication to continuous improvement and collaboration is inspiring, and I’m excited to carry the lessons from this week into my role as EVSE Product Manager.

Also, a personal highlight—it snowed in Philadelphia while I was there! The snowfall made the city even more magical and felt like the perfect way to carry a bit of my white Christmas spirit into the new year.

Here’s to a 2025 filled with collaboration, growth, and innovation!
